1. Overview

Jay Matchmaker ("the Site", "we", "us", "our"), operated by Amadi Jennifer Uchechi, is a live matchmaking community. This Privacy Policy covers the Site and any services offered through it. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: when you sign up we collect your name, email address, phone number, password (stored securely hashed), and what you are looking for.
• Profile information: you may add your gender, age, location, region, city, occupation, relationship history, whether you are open to single parents, preferred age bracket, religion, blood group, number and ages of children, visa status, state of origin, nationality, phone number, photos and videos. Your profile is shared with other members as described below.
• Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive the name and email address from your Google account.
• Messages and enquiries: contact form submissions (name, email, topic, message) and counselling booking details (name, email, phone, preferred date, focus and notes).
• Payment references: when you pay, the transaction happens through our payment providers (e.g. PayPal or Flutterwave). We may store a transaction reference and confirmation status, but we do not store your card or bank account details.
• Technical data: device and browser information, IP address, pages visited, and similar usage data, collected through server logs and cookies.

3. How we use your information

• To create and manage your portal account;
• To let you view profiles and express interest, and to notify a member by email when someone is interested in them;
• To read profiles out loud on the livestream, as you have agreed when your profile is submitted;
• To process sign-ups, counselling bookings and donations;
• To respond to your enquiries and provide support;
• To secure the Site, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service;
• To improve the Site and, where you have agreed, to communicate with you.

4. Sharing your information

Your profile is visible to other registered members and may be read out loud on the livestream. This visibility is central to how the service works. We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Hosting and infrastructure providers that run the Site;
• Payment processors (such as PayPal and Flutterwave) that you choose to pay through;
• Authorities, where required by law or to protect the rights, safety or property of the Site, our members, or the public.

5. Data retention policy

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law:

• Account and profile data: kept while your account is active. If you close your account, your profile is removed from public view. We may keep basic records for up to 30 days to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations, unless a longer period is required by law.
• Payment records: transaction references and confirmation records are kept for as long as required for accounting and tax purposes (typically up to 7 years).
• Contact and counselling enquiries: kept for up to 2 years so we can respond and follow up, unless you ask us to delete them earlier.
• Technical and usage logs: retained for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) for security and analytics, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
• Login and security records: kept for up to 1 year to protect the Site and its members.

When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised so it can no longer identify you.

6. Cookies and similar technology

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to work properly and to improve your experience.

• Essential cookies: required for you to stay signed in, keep your session secure, and remember choices you make on the Site.
• Security cookies: help us detect suspicious activity, abuse and fraud, including login attempts.
• Preference cookies: remember settings such as region filters and appearance choices.
• Analytics cookies: help us understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. These are used only if we enable an analytics tool.
• Third-party services: pages that embed TikTok or Google services may set cookies from those providers, governed by their own privacy policies.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Site from working, such as signing in to your portal.

7. Your rights and choices

• Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate information through your portal or by contacting us;
• Close your account, which removes your profile from public view;
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal obligations;
• Object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable;
• Withdraw any consent you have given at any time.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version is always posted on this page with its effective date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
